Holiday Special: Movies.

It’s been a while.

And I’m really sorry, but sometimes we need to push the things we do to love in order to have time to struggle with the things we do not love. Like studying. Man, I don’t like studying.

Ever since I was a young girl (still am, I guess) I’ve been told I’m “practical smart”. I can solve problems, find patterns, sort activities in a fast manner. But I can’t sit down and study for hours. I just can’t. It’s like I have ants in my… shirt. In my shirt.

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree has been the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life. High school was easy enough, I could pass all my classes by just remembering what professors were saying during lectures.

But sitting down for hours in front of a book is not how I had pictured college. I was wrong, of course.

Last week, I took my last final. I have until next April to finish my thesis, present it and be done with it.

I can’t wait!

So thank you for bearing with me while the hectic study marathon was unfolding. Now I’m here and since we have a few days before Christmas, I want to share with you guys the Holiday Favorites my sisters and I enjoy every Christmas.

Elf
Will Ferrell. He is one of the funniest men alive if you ask me. In this movie, he’s a human raised as an elf who decides to leave the North Pole to find his family in New York City. Hilarious. Plus, Zooey Deschanel!

The Holiday
Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet decide to switch houses in order to escape from someone in their respective lives. They end up discovering a lot more about themselves, right in time for the Holidays!

Serendipity
Have you experienced a Christmas miracle? Do you have magnet for coincidences and believe in fate? This is a very romantic story, that features more failed meetings than a Shakespeare play. Plus, John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are the cutest.

When Harry Met Sally
A classic, I know. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal play a game orchestrated by the genius of Nora Ephron and it’s majestic. Plus, who can ignore a run through New York during New Years Eve? I know I can’t. Bonus: pastrami sandwiches from Katz.

Love Actually
Love, love, love. Traveling again to the other side of the pond, England has never been this romantic and seasonal. This is a true feast of amazing actors and great stories.

Best love scene in years.

You’ve Got Mail
I know some people would prefer Sleepless in Seattle. But my favorite OTP’s favorite movie is this one. New York, Christmas, a love story in the early digital age and all the mystery of a thrilling tale.

So, how about you? Do you have any Holiday Classics or Christmas traditions? I would love to hear about them!
